The verdant terrain consists of lofty highlands and mountains feeding fertile valleys with countless waterfalls. The meandering coastline abounds with towering palms, white sandy beaches, broad bays and pleasant seascape vistas dotted with colorful sails set against deep blue skies.

Language: While Spanish is the official language, English is widely spoken, especially in tourist areas. The area is also popular with German-speaking visitors. The DR is blessed with no international disputes.

A Word of Caution. Be advised that recreational drugs such as marijuana and cocaine are strictly illegal and that penalties for possession of even very small amounts are extremely severe.
